Carmel Heritage, Reimagined for Today
Carmel-by-the-Sea is known for its unique, historic homes, each with its own story. The Modern Mission Hideaway, built in 1933 and expanded in the 1970s, was one such property, but by the time new owners acquired it, the layout was disjointed and impractical for modern living.
Lewis Builders took on the challenge of transforming the space while preserving its historical charm. We reimagined the entire layout, blending modern comforts with original architectural details. With custom features like Sierra Pacific windows, Carrara marble finishes, and radiant floor heating, the remodel created a functional, contemporary retreat that honors the home’s legacy.
